Unfortunately the tournament had to be postponed by a couple weeks due to scheduling difficulties among contestants and organizers. We apologize to anyone who had to change their plans to attend! The tournament will be back in a couple weeks with bigger and better prizes.
We are happy to announce our first creative speed-building tournament! Four players will show off their creative skills in a series of timed challenges, where they'll be paired up to quickly create themed builds.

A random theme will be given in the beginning of each match. Contestants will have 5 minutes to plan their creation, then 40 minutes to build it. The audience will choose their favorite build after each match, and the ultimate winner will receive some pretty good prizes!

Rules

This is the boring but necessary long version of the rules, which should answer any questions and ambiguities.

Contestants will be picked in order in which they signed up. Sign-ups will be accepted until end of Friday, June 13^th (GMT).
Tournament will be double-elimination (5 matches). First round (2 matches) will be played first. Winners will then to play against each other in the upper bracket (1 match), and losers will play against each other in the lower bracket (1 match). Winners of the upper and lower brackets will meet in the final round (1 match).
Theme for each match will be different, and will be randomly chosen and announced to contestants at the start of the match. Contestants will have 5 minutes to plan, then 40 minutes to build their creation within a designated 50×50×50 space. Building is NOT allowed before the 40-minute timer starts, or after the timer elapses. Remaining time will be announced at the 30, 20, 10, 5, and 1 minute marks. Contestants are NOT allowed to use WorldEdit commands, auto-clickers, any build automation tools for the duration of their match. Spectators must NOT interfere with the contestants. Contestants may request a short break, at which point both players must stop building.
Winner will be decided by a vote of other players. Only players ranked builder or above can vote. Contestants who have not yet been eliminated may NOT vote. Vote is done by sending a message to the designated admin: either in-game, on IRC, or via forums. Votes will be accepted for one hour after end of the match. Vote of the designated admin will be used to break any ties. The result of a match will be announced as soon as voting period ends. If a contestant cannot make it to their match and rescheduling is impossible, their opponent will be declared winner by default.
